Kindergarteners in Ms. Tepper's afternoon class performed a folk dance called "Seven Jumps." Students in Ms. Tepper's morning class played a singing game where each student performed a solo.
First graders performed the book, Mortimer, on the Orff instruments this week. They brainstormed ideas about how they could use the instruments to bring the story to life. They were very creative and did a fantastic job with this activity!
Second graders continued working on their "Peas Porridge Hot" Orff instrument compositions this week. So far they have finished composing the A-section of the song. They began working on the B-section and will continue with this next week.
Third graders continued practicing accompanying themselves on the Orff instruments. They also began to add boomwhacker and sand block parts to their performances.
Fourth graders began learning the letter names of the lines and spaces on the staff this week. Up to this point, they have identified different pitches by using the Solfege syllables. Now they are using the actual letter names in preparation for the recorder unit.
Fifth graders continued working on their Guatemalan folk song and dance this week. They spent some time reviewing their Scandinavian and Israeli songs, as well. They will be beginning an Irish folk song next week.
