We had a great week in Music! Find out what your child learned by reading below.
Kindergarteners read a book called Up, Down, and Around. They used this book to help them find the high and low sounds in their voices, play high and low sounds on the Orff instruments, and perform high and low creative movements.
Second graders learned a song called "Ducks in the Millpond" this week. They learned that like the music alphabet, the Solfege pitches also repeat over and over. Using that knowledge, they figured out that "Ducks in the Millpond" has low sol and la pitches instead of the higher ones they are used to. They performed this song on the Orff instruments and added creative movements.
Third and fourth graders continued working on their concert music this week. They have now learned the basics of all of their songs. They should be practicing their singing and movements at home in order to make sure they are memorized. Many students participated in the "test of courage" for solos this week. They did a great job!
Fifth graders had their last full week of the recorder unit. They continue to do a nice job playing their instruments.
