Read on to learn about some of the highlights from your child's music class this week.
Kindergarteners did not have music this week because there is no school on Friday.
Second graders performed their "Ping Pong Pig" compositions this week. They did a nice job sharing their songs with their classmates. They also began learning a song called "Ducks in the Millpond," which they have begun to play on Orff instruments.
Third and fourth graders started practicing their concert pieces with microphones this week. Students with solos and speaking parts focused on how to speak clearly into the microphones. You should have received an information sheet with the final details of the upcoming Spring Sing this week. You may also access it here: 3rd-4th Grade Concert Info
Fifth graders were very excited to begin playing the ukuleles this week! They learned to play part of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony on the ukuleles, and they started learning their first two chords. Highland Park Public Library has ukuleles available for free check-out, so if your child is interested in playing at home, consider this fantastic option! If the instrument needs to be tuned, your child can bring it to me, and I will be happy to tune it.
