Week of December 11

Students met their point goal for positive behavior and got to participate in a "Snowball Celebration" during recess today.  They had a great time with this special event!

Kindergarteners played a winter singing game this week.  The game helped them focus on sound location, which is a skill that young students sometimes struggle with.

First graders performed a song called "Deedle, Deedle Dumpling" on Boomwhackers this week.  They discovered that the longer a Boomwhacker is, the lower the instrument sounds.  They did a nice job playing and singing this song.  Students were very excited to play every single color Boomwhacker this week!

Second graders graded their own singing recordings this week.  Many students found it surprising to hear their own voices on the recordings.  Each student conferenced with me, and we set a singing goal for them to work toward in the next term.

Third graders made video recordings of their "Nutcracker March" performances.  They then watched their video recordings and assessed themselves.  Some students found this to be particularly entertaining!

Fourth graders worked very hard on their recorder music this week.  They are not expected to practice much over break, but it would help prevent regression if they at least tried the fingerings a couple of times over the two week period.  (They don't even actually need to have their recorders with them in order to practice the fingerings!)

Fifth graders watched video clips from "Stomp Out Loud" this week and discussed how the clips relate to their own performances.  This will help to prepare them for an activity they will do when they return from break.

Have a wonderful winter break!
