The kindergarteners had a good time singing and doing movements to several Thanksgiving songs and playing a steady beat game with a song called "Turkey Dinner." They really enjoyed playing the drum during this game!
First, second, and third graders all discussed Thanksgiving traditions and made a list of things for which they're thankful. The students then figured out the rhythm of each word. For example, "friends" would be counted "ta," and "family" would be "ti-ti ta." They worked in groups to compose rhythm patterns using the list of things for which they're thankful. Then they created body percussion to go with these rhythms!
Fourth and fifth graders continued working on recorders. Fourth graders should all have brought the orange and green belt music home to practice over Thanksgiving break. Fifth graders should be focusing on their yellow and orange belt songs.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!
