Week of November 15

Feel free to stop by during conferences.  I would be happy to meet with you.  I will be available from 12-8pm on Monday, and from 2-8pm on Tuesday.

Are you interested in volunteering to lead an arts related activities for our Arts in Action afternoon in March? Do you know someone who might be interested?  If so, please contact Mrs. Crutchfield as soon as possible!  We are looking for volunteers who have special skills in any area of the arts, including music, visual art, theatre, or dance and would be willing to lead an activity.

Kindergarteners sang and did movements to an echo song called "I Wish I Were a Turkey."  They also enjoyed playing a game with a song called "Turkey Dinner."

First graders sang the song "What'll We Do Till the Turkey's Roasted" and played a movement game with this song.  They thought the song "You're a Turkey, Too" was really funny!  They also played a singing game with "The Turkey Will Get You."

Second graders sang and acted out a song called "Yummy Pumpkin Pie."  They then added instruments to the song.  They also enjoyed predicting what would happen next as they sang "A Turkey Knocked at My Back Door."

Third graders listened to the story When I First Came to This Land, and then they sang the song of the same name.  They added instruments to the song and discussed why each instrument was added in the particular verse that it was played.  They also read about the New Yam Festival of West Africa and sang a folk song from Ghana called "Tue, Tue."

Fourth graders learned the songs for their yellow and orange belts this week.  They should be practicing these over the Thanksgiving break.  (They can even practice the fingering without the mouthpiece on the instrument if you need a break from the sound!)  They should also be practicing their newest note, "E."  They played a Thanksgiving singing game, too.

Fifth graders began working on the song for their orange belts, "Bugle Call."  They also learned the notes, E and F#. They should be practicing these over Thanksgiving break.  (Like the fourth graders, they can practice the fingering without the mouthpiece on the instrument if you need a break from the sound!)  The fifth graders also played a Thanksgiving singing game.

happy thanksgiving

I hope you and your family have a very safe and happy Thanksgiving!
