If you are looking for something to do on Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon, feel free to come see the BG Singers concert at Stevenson High School, where I will be singing and dancing along with the rest of the choir. There is a large variety of songs in this year's show, entitled "That's Love!" You can get discounted tickets by reserving them ahead of time through the Buffalo Grove Park District: 847-850-2132. Feel free to take a look at the flyer for more information: BG Singers Concert
All students should have filled out forms this week, selecting the top six choices they would like to attend on our Arts in Action afternoon, which is coming up on Wednesday, March 23. Of these six, they will attend three. We have an incredible selection of presenters!
This week, Kindergarteners in the afternoon class sang "Hunt the Slipper." They talked about fast and slow sounds and high and low sounds. Students in the morning class sang "Bee, Bee, Bumble Bee."
First and Second graders have been having a great time singing and learning movements for their third Spring Sing song. They are focusing on singing with a nice tone quality.
Third and Fourth graders learned movement for their fourth Spring Sing song, which is sung partly in Swahili, the official language of Kenya; Tanzania; and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They especially enjoyed beginning their fifth song because it is a funk song! They also talked a lot about recycling electronics properly this week, which is the theme of the funk song.
Fifth graders learned about composer John Williams this week. Many students were surprised to discover that he composed the music in many of their favorite movies! They also took a vote on the theme for their Spring Sing: Explorers! They have the incredible opportunity this year to work with two artists in residence from the Music Institute of Chicago to write their own mini-musical for their Spring Sing! We will begin this process next week.
