Next weekend, March 5-6, I will be performing at Stevenson High School with the Buffalo Grove Singers. If you have any interest in attending, you are more than welcome to! This year’s show is called “That’s Love!” and features all styles of music, including pop, jazz, Broadway, and many more. There are songs for people of all ages. This week, Kindergarteners in the afternoon class learned the song, "Bee, Bee, Bumble Bee." They worked together as a class to figure out how to write the rhythms for this song. They also played a game with the song. Students in the morning class learned about eighth notes this week! They also reviewed forte (loud) and piano (soft) sounds in the singing game, "Closet Key."
First and Second graders sang and learned movements for the second song in their Spring Sing this week. They seem to especially enjoy putting the singing and movements together for this song!
Third and Fourth graders learned movement for their third Spring Sing song, which they really like because it is a rap song. They discovered that this song has the form of most typical rap songs. They also began learning their fourth song. This song is unique because part of it is sung in Swahili!
Fifth graders wrote reflections about their Passport to Music trip to Italy. They learned how to count sixteenth note and eighth note combinations, and they played a stick passing singing game to reinforce microbeat and macrobeat.
February is International Friendship Month!
