Welcome!

Welcome to the 2013-2014 School Year!  There are many exciting things planned for this year in music class, and I am very happy that your children will be a part of them.  This blog will be the primary means of communication from the music class to home, so please encourage others you know to subscribe!

If your child is interested in signing up for Chorus, registration is due TOMORROW, August 25.  You may access the materials here:  Fall 2013 Registration Packet.  I would love to have a large turnout for both groups this year!  Unlike some after school activities, Chorus is only offered in the fall.  1st-2nd Grade Chorus will meet on Tuesdays after school,  and 3rd-5th Grade Chorus will meet on Thursdays after school.  Feel free to contact me with any questions: ecrutchfield@nssd112.org.

We will have our third "Arts in Action" event this year!  Arts in Action takes place in March in honor of "Music in Our Schools Month" and "Youth Art Month."  Every child in the school will take part in an afternoon of arts-related activities.  The students will be selecting their activities ahead of time.  Mrs. Kurzawski and I will be working closely with a team of parent volunteers to prepare this exciting afternoon for your children.  Students have already begun asking about it!  If you know of anybody in the community who would be willing to volunteer their time to lead an activity for the students, please email either me or Mrs. K (ecrutchfield@nssd112.org; akurzawski@nssd112.org).  We are looking for artists, musicians, dancers, acrobats, actors, and any other kind of artist you can possibly think of who would work well with kids!  Also, if you would be willing to help us with this Arts in Action committee, either on the day of the event or in the preparation for the event, please email either me or Mrs. K.  We truly appreciate your help and look forward to bringing another fantastic event to your children!
