Week of August 26

It has been a HOT week here at Wayne Thomas, but the students have been doing a great job in spite of the heat!  They are adjusting well to the routines and expectations in the music room.  Keep reading to find out a little about what your students did in music this week!

Kindergarteners had their first music classes this week.  They did a movement activity and sang a song using all of their names.

First graders learned a song called "Hi, New Friends."  They came up with different ideas for movements they could do with the song, and they played instruments.

Second graders focused on the rhythm of each student's name in a song called "Do You Know My Friends at School?"  They reviewed the terms forte, piano, crescendo, and decrescendo, adding them to the word wall.

Third graders played a "get to know you" game and analyzed the text of a song they will be singing next week.

Fourth graders sang a song about school.  They performed the song in three parts and created movements for their group's part.

Fifth graders learned a three-part song and did a team-building activity this week.  They did a nice job with these activities.
