I hope you have a fantastic winter break with lots of fun and relaxation!
Kindergarteners in the afternoon class worked on differentiating between songs that you can walk to and songs that you can gallop to. They played instruments and did movement activities to help them grasp this concept. Kindergarteners in the morning class did not have music because they attended an author visit assembly.
First graders continued their work with question and answer form by analyzing several songs and doing movement activities with them. They also sang and played instruments with a couple of winter songs.
Second graders listened to their singing recordings and did self-assessments of their performances. They then had conferences with me, and each student set a singing goal to work toward for the next singing assessment.
Third graders did self-assessments of their performances in the "Nutcracker March" videos they made. They also sang two winter partner songs.
Fourth graders worked on their recorder music this week. At this point, most students have earned their green belts. Some have even earned their purple or blue belts. They have been working very hard in this unit!
Fifth graders watched "Stomp Out Loud" this week, which is a movie featuring the group called "Stomp." These talented musicians use common household items to create complex percussion music. The students really enjoyed this!
