Week of December 9

It has been an exciting (and cold!) week here at Wayne Thomas!  Read on to find out about some of the highlights from your child's music classes this week.

Kindergarteners made a list of directions for how to build a snowman, and then put them into a song.  They enjoyed creating their own movements to the song and playing tone bells.

First graders focused on singing in their light head voices this week.  They also played instruments to rhythms commonly found in rock and roll music and began learning about question and answer form.

Second graders were individually recorded singing "Rocky Mountain" this week.  This is a singing assessment that will be used to help them set singing goals for the future.

Third graders studied the "March" from "The Nutcracker."  They discovered that it is in rondo form, and they performed movements that showed the different sections of the song.

Fourth graders continued playing their recorders this week.  Many students earned new belts.  They should be practicing for at least a few minutes each day when they are at home.  They have been doing a nice job so far!

Fifth graders had their concert this week!  They performed some incredibly difficult music, including songs in Chinese, Russian, Portuguese, German, and English.  They wrote their own speaking parts, which really made the concert their own.  They should be very proud of all their hard work!
