Please see the "Chorus" section of this blog if your child might be interested in singing in Chorus next fall!
Kindergarteners in Ms. Tepper's morning class read a book called Bearful Bear and did a creative movement activity with this story. They began creating a list of sounds found in the book, which they will play with instruments next week. Students in Ms. Tepper's afternoon class did not have Music this week due to the early release on Thursday.
First graders began studying "Carnival of the Animals" by Camille Saint-Saƫns this week. They read a book featuring the music and watched several visual representations of the piece. They have enjoyed their work with this song so far.
Second graders assessed their singing recordings this week and set goals to work toward for the next singing assessment. They also watched a movie about Handel and began reading a book about Handel's life.
Third graders continued African drumming this week. They learned two drum parts for a drumming ensemble they will be performing. They are working on being able to hold their own parts.
Fourth graders also continued African drumming this week. They put two drum parts together in their first ensemble piece. They are working on learning their next part, which is a bit more challenging than the first two.
Fifth graders continued working on their recorder music this week. Many students have earned their green belts. A few students have soared ahead because of their great practice at home. These students will be working on individual goals.
