Kindergarteners created a soundscape to a story featuring So-me this week. So-me is a character that is used to teach students the concepts of the different Solfege pitches. This particular story helped them learn a new pitch: la.

Third graders studied music in 3/4 time this week. They worked on a Mexican folk song and also learned about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. They studied Mozart's well-known piece, "Eine kleine Nachtmusik," or "A Little Night Music."
Fourth graders continued practicing B, A, & G on their recorders. Some students did their playing tests for the first song, "Hot Cross Buns." If they earned at least 3 of the 4 possible points, they earned a white belt for this song. They will continue working on different recorder songs and take playing tests for each. They are working on earning many of their recorder "belts."
Fifth graders finished writing the script for their upcoming (December 10) concert and they found out what parts they have in the concert. Many students began recess rehearsals this week. They are now working to add all of the parts together with the songs. They should be practicing their concert music at home.
Don't forget about this upcoming special event!
