Read on to learn about some of the highlights from your child's music classes this week.
Kindergarteners continued to work on identifying and performing rhythm and steady beat. They used several instruments to show the difference between the two.
Second graders worked on their sight-singing skills this week. They learned several new songs, one of which will be used in their upcoming singing assessments next week.
Third and fourth graders continued working on their Spring Sing music this week. They are working very hard to learn all of the words. Students with speaking parts, instrument parts, dancing parts, and singing solos have begun to add them in during class time. If you need an additional copy of the Spring Sing information sheet that was sent home last week, you may access it under the "Important Dates" section of this blog.
Fifth graders took a field trip to Ravinia on Thursday to learn about many kinds of American music. They heard performances of pieces composed by George Gershwin, Aaron Copland, and Antonin Dvorak. They seemed to enjoy the performance.
