We had another great week in Music! Read on to find out what your child learned this week.
Kindergarteners in Ms. Tepper's afternoon class continued working on their name song and read a book called So-Me Goes Missing, which introduced them to their first two Solfege pitches: sol and mi. Students in the morning class sang a song called "The Good Day Song," which helped them identify high and low sounds.
Second graders did a rhythmic dictation activity with "Closet Key" to start the week. They then began a song called "Caimarusa," which is from Colombia, South America. This song helped them to review locomotor and stationary movements. They will be doing a folk dance with this song next week.
Third graders began singing a song called "Down at the Station." They focused on reading the rhythms of several instrumental accompaniment parts. They then played the accompaniment on boomwhackers and sand blocks.
Fourth graders played a team-building game this week. Most fourth grade classes only had music once this week due to the Labor Day holiday. All fourth grade students need to turn in a recorder order form no later than Monday, September 21.
Fifth graders learned their second concert song this week. It is from "Peter Pan," and they are doing a great job with it. Any fifth grader who needs to order a recorder may do so using this form. Orders are due Monday, September 21.
