Week of November 9

The 5th grade concert is coming up on Wednesday, December 9 at Wayne Thomas!  If you have a 5th grade child, please mark your calendar for their final performance at Wayne Thomas!

Kindergarteners sang several turkey songs this week.  They did a creative movement activity with a song called "I Wish I Were A Turkey."  They played a singing game and played unpitched percussion instruments with a song called "Turkey Dinner."

First graders had their Informances this week!  They were thrilled that so many of their parents were able to come be a part of this special event.  They completed written reflections of the event during their music class later in the week, and many said they wished we could have Informances every day!

Second graders were very excited to have their Informances this week!  Thank you to all of the parents who were able to come be a part of this special event!  We had a wonderful turn out.  Second graders also did a composer study of Emily Bear this week.  Emily Bear is a 14-year old pianist who composes her own music.  They watched an interview with her and saw her perform; they loved it!

Third graders used unpitched percussion instruments with a song called "When I First Came to this Land."  They also learned some simple square dance steps to go along with a book called Barn Dance.

Fourth graders continued working on their recorder music this week.  All of their music is accessible under the "Recorder Music" section of this blog.  They should be practicing at home for a few minutes each night.

Fifth graders learned what parts they will have in their upcoming concert.  They started recess rehearsals and are finding it hard to believe that their performance is coming up so quickly!  When they get back from Thanksgiving, they have one week, and then they will be performing in front of the school.  They should be practicing their music at home.

As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns:  ecrutchfield@nssd112.org.
