Week of February 8

Find out about what your child learned in Music this week!

Kindergarteners in Ms. Tepper's morning class sang and danced to a song called "Tap Your Shoulders."  They performed this song lento (slowly) and allegro (quickly).

First graders continued learning about the woodwind family this week.  They studied J.S. Bach's "Little Fugue in G minor," which features many of the woodwind instruments.  They were very excited when we did an activity using water and food coloring to show the texture of this song!

Second graders completed their "John Kanaka-naka-tu-lai-ay" rhythm stick compositions this week and added a do-si-do element, as well.  They performed their compositions for their classmates and worked on their audience etiquette while watching their peers.

Third and fourth graders continued working on their Spring Sing music this week.  They should have their first song memorized (with movements) and should be working on memorizing their second song, which is called "What's Cookin'?"

Fifth graders worked very hard on their recorder music this week.  They are allowed to do their playing tests with a partner if they choose to.  Each student still receives an individual grade, but they have the option to test together.  So far most students have still wanted to test alone, which is fine!
