We had another great week here at Wayne Thomas! Students in 1st-5th grade began making "snowballs" this week. These snowballs are made from paper scraps and will be used as a part of the upcoming ROAR Celebration to celebrate students' positive behavior.
Kindergarteners in Ms. Tepper's morning class sang and danced to a song called "One Finger, One Thumb." They also played rhythm sticks to show the steady beat. Students in the afternoon class did not have music due to Friday's early release.
Second graders began learning a song they will record for a singing assessment next week. They also did a rhythmic dictation activity and sang a winter song while accompanying themselves on the xylophones.
Third graders began a movement activity that will help them demonstrate the form of Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker March." They discovered that this song is in rondo form because it goes back to the main theme after every other section of music.
Fourth graders continued working on their recorder music this week. Students seem to enjoy practicing their instruments with their friends during class. When they perform their playing tests, they may test alone or with a friend.
Fifth graders had their full grade level rehearsal this week. It was very exciting for them to see the whole show come together. They will perform the concert for Wayne Thomas students and teachers on Monday afternoon. Their evening concert is Wednesday at 7:00 at Wayne Thomas. If you are unable to attend the evening concert and would like to attend Monday's assembly instead, please email Mrs. Crutchfield so a seat will be available for you.
