Congratulations to the 5th graders, who performed a great concert on Monday afternoon and Wednesday evening! They worked very hard to write their script and learn all of their parts.
Kindergarteners talked about how to make a snowman this week. They then sang a song called "The Snowman," and composed movements to each part of the song. They learned a new pitch this week, too! The Solfege pitches they currently know are sol, mi, and la. They were very excited to discover that our classroom mascot, a bear named Solami, was named after these three pitches.
Second graders were each recorded singing "Rocky Mountain" this week. They focused on using their light singing voices and matching the pitches in the song. Each student graded his own recording, conferenced with Mrs. Crutchfield about the assessment, and created a singing goal to work toward for the next singing assessment.
Third graders were video recorded performing their movements depicting the form of "March" from "The Nutcracker." They enjoyed watching their video recordings, and they did a self-assessment of their own performances.
Fourth graders did a really nice job with their recorder music this week. Most fourth graders are working on the song they will play to earn their purple belts. Some students are still working on their green belt song, and some students are soaring ahead to the blue or red belt songs!
Fifth graders performed in an assembly for the school on Monday and in an evening concert on Wednesday night. They worked very hard on their concert. They voted on the topic at the end of last school year, and then they came up with the plot for the show and wrote the script this year. They should be very proud of their hard work!
