Week of March 20

Keep reading to learn about some of the things your child learned in Music this week.  I hope you have a wonderful spring break, and I look forward to seeing your children back at Wayne Thomas on April 3!

Kindergarteners in the afternoon class sang a song called "Grizzly Bear," and played a singing game.  They focused on using their piano (soft) and forte (loud) singing voices with this song.  Students in the morning class did not have music this week due to the early release on Friday.

First graders did a worksheet showing what they learned by watching "Peter and the Wolf."  They also played several games focusing on instrument identification.

Second graders created a soundscape using unpitched percussion instruments.  They put this soundscape with a book called Ping Pong Pig.  They also performed an Orff instrument part with this story.

Third and fourth graders were very excited to find out their riser positions this week.  Any student interested in a solo for the concert performed a "test of courage" during recess.  They did a fantastic job with this!  They will find out their parts after spring break.

Fifth graders concluded their recorder unit this week.  They also played a music symbol review game called "Caught in a Spider's Web."
