Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year at Wayne Thomas! I hope you had a fun and restful summer with your family. We are having a great first week back at school this week!
I am due with my second child in early September. When she arrives, I will be taking six weeks maternity leave. Nancy Berg, a retired music teacher, will be my maternity leave substitute. She will ensure that your child continues to have a positive experience in music. Parents of students in 1st-5th grades should receive information sheets about your child's 2017-2018 concert or informance. Most teachers will be sending these home today or tomorrow. The information is also available under the "Important Dates" section on the left side of this blog.
If you have a child in 4th or 5th grade, you should have received a Recorder Order Form. These are due next Wednesday, 8/30. I should receive a form from EVERY 4th grader, but only those 5th graders needing to place an order must send in the form. Students are asked to have 2 recorders: one stays at home, and the other stays at school. 5th graders' school recorders were kept at Wayne Thomas over the summer, so students just need to make sure they know where their home instruments are.
