Read on to learn about some of the highlights from your child's music class this week.
Kindergarteners did not have music this week due to Friday's snow day.
First graders studied two important compositions this week. They learned about Carl Orff's "O Fortuna" from the cantata "Carmina Burana." They also studied Bach's "Little Fugue in G Minor." They used water and food coloring to create a visual representation of the instrument parts in "Little Fugue in G Minor." (See Mrs. Crutchfield's Twitter for photos!) They really enjoyed this!
Second graders completed their Pizza compositions this week. They were video recorded performing their songs, and they then self-assessed their performances. They did a great job with this activity!
Third and fourth graders learned singing and movements for their first Spring Sing song this week. They also began learning the vocal part for their second song. Their Spring Sing performance is on Wednesday, May 2 at 7pm at Elm Place Middle School. See the information sheet that was sent home earlier this year or the "Important Dates" section of this blog for more information.
Fifth graders did a nice job working on their recorder music this week. Some students are very motivated to earn their belts and are working very hard!
