Next week, 1st-5th grade students will take part in Sharing Days. Sharing Day is an opportunity for any interested student to perform in front of the class. This takes place during their regular music class. Some examples of past performances include playing a song on the piano, singing a song, performing a skit, telling jokes, performing a dance, and demonstrating karate moves. The possibilities are endless! Students may work on their own or in groups of any size, as long as all the students are in the same class. They should practice their performance before sharing it with the class. The practicing is to be done outside of class (recess, at piano lessons or dance class, etc.) If your child wants to share something that they are unable to bring to school, you can make a video of their performance and send it to me at ecrutchfield@nssd112.org. If your child needs a particular song for their performance, you may email that to me, as well. This is not show-and-tell; instead, it is a performance opportunity. It is a very low-key, supportive environment for your children to share their special talents! See below for each class's Sharing Day.
Kindergarteners did not have music this week because there is no school on Friday. Enjoy the long weekend!
First graders self-assessed the videos they made of their performances with The Little Red Hen. They also learned how to play three different music review games: Instrument Family Go Fish, Composer Memory, and Fiddlesticks. These were purchased through a grant from AAEC Credit Union. Thank you to AAEC for supporting our students' learning in music!
