It has been a busy week at Wayne Thomas! Find out what your child learned in music by reading on.
Kindergarteners used unpitched percussion instruments to create a soundscape with a book called The Wonky Donkey. They also enjoyed singing a song called "Sounds on the Farm."
First graders played an instrument family game called "Clue" this week. They moved around the room and provided their friends with clues about the instrument picture their peers were holding on their foreheads. They did an excellent job with this game.
Second graders learned about a child composer and pianist named Emily Bear. They were very fascinated by her life because she was even younger than them when she began composing and performing professionally. Now she is 17 years old, and they were very excited to watch a performance of her playing one of her songs on the piano.
Third and fourth graders have been hard at work on their Spring Sing music, both during class and during lunch and recess rehearsals. They have enjoyed piecing together all of the various speaking parts, singing solos, instrument parts, dancing parts, and acting parts. Students are getting excited for their upcoming performances!
Fifth graders concluded the recorder unit this week. Students worked particularly hard on their songs during their final recorder classes and are looking forward to beginning the ukulele unit next week!
