Week of April 15

I hope you have a great long weekend.  Find out what your child learned this week in music by reading on!

Kindergarteners performed a folk dance called "Kinderpolka" this week.  They had a great time with this partner dance!

First graders began their study of Sergei Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf" this week.  They learned that each character in the story has a theme song played by a particular instrument.  They have really enjoyed watching the movie so far.

Second graders played a singing game called "Cut the Cake."  This game helped them review various stationary and locomotor movements, as well as allowing an opportunity for them to practice their singing goals.

Third and fourth graders are doing a nice job with their Spring Sing music.  Their full grade level rehearsals will take place next week.  They are excited to see how their songs sound with the other classes in their grade level!

Fifth graders were very excited to begin the ukulele unit this week.  Ukuleles are available for free check-out from the Highland Park Public Library.  This would be a great way for your child to continue learning at home!
