Week of May 20

Sharing Days are coming up in music classes!  This special day is an opportunity for any interested student to perform for the class.  Nobody is required to perform, but most students choose to.  If your child takes instrument lessons, dance classes, gymnastics, taekwondo, etc., this would be a great opportunity for them to share their talents with their peers!  Examples of previous sharing day performances include playing or singing a song, performing a skit, telling jokes, etc.  If your child would like to perform something that cannot be done in the classroom, they may bring or email me a recording of the performance that can be shared.  If your child's performance needs a particular song, please email me a link to the school-appropriate version of the song that we can play in class.  If your child's performance requires a large instrument that they will be bringing from home, they can store it in the music room during the day.  See each grade level's section below to find out when your child's Sharing Day will be!

Kindergarteners concluded their study of Camille Saint-Saens' "Carnival of the Animals" this week.  They liked seeing how he used various instruments to represent the sounds that the different animals make.  They did a nice job working together as a class to play a game reviewing the information from "Carnival of the Animals."
