See below to find out what your child learned in music this week!
Kindergarteners read a book called Up, Down, and Around. They used xylophones, metallophones, glockenspiels, and movement props to bring the book to life. They liked comparing the garden in the book to their own gardens at home. It sounds like some students have very elaborate gardens at their houses!
First graders studied music and animals from Australia this week. They learned about the didgeridoo and performed a dance featuring movements based on kangaroos, wombats, koalas, and sugar gliders.
Second graders created singing recordings this week and listened to their own recordings. They assessed their own recordings and created new goals based on their singing. Most students showed significant growth since their last recordings!
Third graders reviewed many music symbols this week. They played Music Bingo to help recall the meanings of each symbol. Mrs. Lippe's class began their drumming unit.
Fourth graders played a game called "Caught in a Spider's Web." This music board game helped them to review the letter names of the notes on the treble clef staff.
Fifth graders did a great job with their ukulele songs this week. Almost all students have passed the playing test for their first song. Many students have passed the second song, and some have even passed the third song!
