Congratulations to the 3rd & 4th graders, who put on a fantastic Spring Sing performance this week! They should be very proud of all their hard work.
Kindergarteners enjoyed performing a partner dance called "Friend of Mine." They got to dance with almost everybody else in the class, and they really seemed to have fun with this!
First graders created soundscapes with pictures this week. Each group got a picture, and they needed to decide what sounds they would hear if they were in the picture. They then determined which unpitched percussion instruments could be used to create those sounds, and they performed for the class.
Second graders played singing games with two new songs this week: "Mouse, Mousie" and "Daisy Chain." They used these songs to work toward their singing goals. Next week, they will make recordings of themselves singing "Mouse, Mousie" to see how they have progressed toward their goals.
Third and fourth graders performed their concert for the school on Monday afternoon and for their family members on Wednesday evening. Many of the students said they were really nervous about performing in front of a big audience, but when they got up there, they actually really liked it. One student said that singing into the microphone was the best feeling in the world!
Fifth graders continued working on their first ukulele song and practiced the C and G7 chords. If your child is interested in practicing at home, ukuleles are available to check out from the Highland Park Public Library.
