Week of March 15

We are in need of some items for the 1st-2nd grade and 3rd-4th grade Spring Sings!  If you have any bug costumes, hats, headbands, etc. that you wouldn't mind letting us borrow, they would be put to good use for the 1st-2nd grade performance.  For the 3rd-4th grade show, we are looking for an old washboard, a washtub (or a washtub bass if anyone has one), trash can lids, old pots and pans, big plastic water jugs, and plastic buckets to use as drums. These will all be used as instruments, so they should be old items that are not in great condition, but you will get everything back.  If you have any of these items, I would be SO appreciative if you wouldn't mind letting us borrow them for these performances!  Feel free to email me at egavin@nssd112.org with any questions.

Kindergarteners did not have music this week due to conferences.

First and second graders were excited to get their riser positions this week!  They got to sing and do the movement to their songs on the risers for the first time.  Many of the students sang for one another, and we discussed proper audience etiquette when listening to a performance.

Third and fourth graders learned the movement for their seventh Spring Sing song, and learned the vocal part and movement for their final song.  Their songs cover a wide variety of styles, and we have discussed a little bit about each type of music.

Fifth graders learned their fifth Spring Sing song, which is a medley of songs from Disney movies that have been made into Broadway productions.  I was very surprised that many of the students didn't know some of these particular Disney songs!
