Week of April 6

I hope you all had a wonderful Spring Break!  We are approaching a very busy and exciting time of year for students in their music classes!  If you have any questions about either of the first two Spring Sings (1st-2nd grade or 3rd-4th grade), the information sheets that were sent home have been posted under the "Important Dates" section of the blog.

Kindergarteners figured out the musical form of several common children's songs by doing a creative movement activity.  They also labeled which characters represented high and low sounds in "The Star Story."  When they played the Orff instruments, they found out that the longer the bar, the lower it sounds.

First and second graders are getting very excited for their Spring Sing, which is next week!  Their dress rehearsal will be on Monday afternoon, and the evening performance is on Wednesday.  Each of these two grades had a rehearsal with their entire grade level where they got to go through the whole Spring Sing.  See the "Important Dates" section of the blog for more information about when your child needs to be at the performance on Wednesday evening.

Third and fourth graders were very excited to learn their Spring Sing parts this week!  They also began adding the speaking parts and instrument parts to the songs.

Fifth graders now know all of their Spring Sing songs.  They began working on singing them from memory this week.
