Week of October 15

Keep reading to find out about your child's week in music!

Kindergarteners in Ms. Tepper’s classes watched a movie about music from around the world this week.  They found the steady beat, and really seemed to enjoy the songs featured in the movie.

First graders learned about Australian music this week.  They studied the unofficial Australian National Anthem, "Waltzing Matilda," and learned about the didgeridoo.  They also read a story about the didgeridoo.  Students really enjoyed learning about Australian music!

Second graders worked on sight-singing this week.  They also reviewed Haydn's "Surprise Symphony," and played a couple of music symbol review games.

Third graders only had music once this week due to the holiday on Monday.  They played a music symbol review game this week and will continue work with early music notation next week.

Fourth graders took a note name quiz this week.  Mrs. Munson's class and Mrs. Silberman's class received their recorders.  Mr. Bush's class will get their instruments next week.

Fifth graders sang "You're a Grand Old Flag" and the Wayne Thomas School Song this week.  Both will be a part of their concert on December 11.  They read a book featuring the lyrics of "Grand Old Flag" and images by Norman Rockwell.  They enjoyed this book.
