Kindergarteners sang a Thanksgiving song in echo form and did creative movements with the piece. They also played a singing game that helped them focus on the steady beat. They played hand drums, too. They did a great job this week!
First graders performed a Thanksgiving song in a round this week. This was difficult, but they worked hard at it. They also enjoyed playing a Thanksgiving singing game.
Second graders performed a song called the "Turkey Tango," and they played a Thanksgiving singing game. They also created a soundscape with a song called "Yummy Pumpkin Pie," in which they used movements and various unpitched percussion instruments to bring the song to life.
Third graders focused on sight-singing this week, as they performed folk songs from the United States and Africa. They also created a soundscape to the story and song "When I First Came To This Land," using unpitched percussion instruments to bring the story to life.
Fourth graders continued working on their recorder music this week. They should begin to practice their new note, E, this week. This will help them when they play the green belt song, "It's Raining." Students should try to practice their music at some point over the Thanksgiving break in order to continue progressing toward their next goal.
Fifth graders learned their parts for the concert and worked really hard to put all the pieces together this week. Many students had recess rehearsals, and they did a great job. Fifth graders should try to practice their music over the Thanksgiving break, particularly the sections when they have trouble remembering words! Students should have brought home a reminder sheet with information about their upcoming concert this week. It may also be accessed on the "Important Dates" section of the blog or here: 5th Grade Concert Info
Happy Thanksgiving!
