Read on to learn about some of the highlights from your child's music class this week!
Kindergarteners did a rhythmic dictation activity using the song "Closet Key," which they learned last week. This song used quarter notes and eighth notes. They also played rhythm sticks to many different rhythm patterns at forte and piano volumes.
First graders studied J.S. Bach's "Little Minuet" this week. They learned about Bach and this piece, studied 3/4 time, and even added words to the song.
Second graders sang a song called "Clapping Land," which reinforced stationary and locomotor movements and helped them work toward reaching their singing goals. They also focused on sight-singing several pieces and played singing games with these songs.
Third and fourth graders learned the vocal parts and movements for their fourth Spring Sing song this week. They were very excited to find out their riser positions, as well. They should be practicing their songs at home!
Fifth graders reflected upon Wednesday's field trip to Ravinia and talked about performance etiquette. They also added a new part to their African drumming piece. The students really enjoy playing the African percussion instruments!
