Week of May 4

Congratulations to the 3rd and 4th graders for their great Spring Sing performance!  They should be very proud of all their hard work.

Kindergarteners in Ms. Tepper's morning class worked on finding the high and low pitches on the xylophones, metallophones, and glockenspiels.  Students in Ms. Tepper's afternoon class read a book called Up, Down, and Around.  They used the Orff instruments to play the sounds for going up and going down.  They did a creative movement activity with this story, too.

First graders began composing their own theme songs for some of the characters in The Little Red Hen.  They will share their compositions with the class next week and perform their songs with the book.

Second graders performed their rhythmic compositions for their classmates.  They then put the rhythmic compositions with the theme song for the main character in Ping Pong Pig.

Third and fourth graders performed their Spring Sing in front of the Wayne Thomas students on Monday and for their families on Wednesday evening.  They worked very hard and did a great job.

Fifth graders concluded their recorder unit this week.  A couple of students worked so hard that they earned their black belts!  They are excited to begin their African percussion unit next week.
