Week of October 17

Today during lunch and recess, students had a fall pumpkin celebration because they have been doing a great job following our ROAR expectations so far this year!  They have been Respecting themselves, respecting Others, Always learning, and making Responsible choices.  They got to watch a Charlie Brown pumpkin movie during lunch.  During recess, they had an opportunity to decorate pumpkins and participate in a pumpkin rolling relay.  For pictures, please see Mrs. Crutchfield's Twitter account.  (You may access it by clicking "Follow Me" on the left side of the main page on the Wayne Thomas Music Blog.)

Kindergarteners did not have Music this week due to their field trip on Friday.

First graders began learning a folk dance that they will share with parents at their upcoming Informances!  We would love for you to join us for the Informances if you are able.  Check your child's backpacks early next week for the final Informance details!

Third graders focused on a couple of songs in 3/4 time this week, and they also learned a little bit about Mozart.  They then danced to one of Mozart's most well-known compositions!

Fourth graders in Mr. Bush's class and Mrs. Munson's class have begun learning their first recorder song, which uses B, A, and G.  They should be practicing this song at home.  Students in Mrs. Silberman's class got their recorders this week and began learning to play B and A.  Students may use the paper copies of their songs that they receive in Music, or they may access their recorder music on this blog by clicking on the "Recorder Music" section on the left side of the main page.  Songs are password protected, but they have been given the password.

Fifth graders worked very hard at writing their concert script this week.  Many students came in during recess to accomplish this.  They were really excited to be able to create their own script!  They began practicing their concert songs in order, and they decided which parts they would like to have in the concert.
