Week of May 1

3rd & 4th grade students performed their Spring Sing concert for the school on Monday afternoon and for their families on Wednesday evening.  They did a great job and should be proud of their hard work.

Kindergarteners read The Very Lonely Firefly and learned a song to go with the book.  They then used movement scarves, triangles, bells, and finger cymbals to perform the song with the story.

First graders sang a couple of winding-themed songs this week.  They used these songs to help create winding movements using the entire class.  This was very challenging at first, but by the end of the week, they had it down!

Second graders continued researching various styles of movement and created movement compositions in these styles.  They did a nice job with this activity and really seemed to enjoy themselves.  They put all of the compositions together with the Giraffes Can't Dance book for a performance at the end of the week.

Third and fourth graders performed their Spring Sing about the Wright brothers this week.  They have worked very hard learning the music, movements, instrument parts, solos, and speaking parts.  They should be proud of a job well done!

Fifth graders have begun to realize how much fun it is to play ukuleles and sing in groups with their friends.  Several groups have even said they plan to check out ukuleles from the library this summer to keep learning!  They are doing an excellent job.
