Week of April 16

Read on to find out about what your child has been learning in music.

Kindergarteners worked on identifying and applying the music symbols they have learned so far this year through a game called Music Memory.

First graders studied Camille Saint-Saens' "Carnival of the Animals" this week.  They read a book that featured the music, watched an orchestra perform part of the piece, and watched several video clips that featured the different parts of the song.

Second graders self-assessed their singing recordings this week and set singing goals to work toward for the next recordings.  They started reading a book called Ping Pong Pig, which they will be doing more work with next week.

Third and fourth graders worked hard to put all of the singing, instrument parts, speaking parts, and solos together this week.  Your child should have brought an information sheet about the Spring Sing home on Monday.  You can view this sheet here.

Fifth graders continued playing the ukuleles this week.  Most students have completed their first song at this point.  They seem to enjoy playing these instruments.
